Green tea is a delicious and healthy drink… but did you know that a lot of its important nutrients don’t dissolve into water?
This is why (unsweetened!) matcha has comparatively more advantages than other forms of green tea. Matcha is made of powdered tea leaves, and so you consume them when you drink it, while the leaves are brewed for sencha, tamaryokucha or shiraore. It means that you will absorb only soluble nutrients.
So, how can sencha lovers enjoy all the wonderful health benefits packed in green tea leaves? Well, by eating them of course!
Once you have brewed your leaves two or three times, don’t throw them away! Let them cool down, add a pinch of salt, soy sauce or ponzu sauce, and voilà! A tasty, healthy and delicious snack, full of vitamins, proteins, amino acids, polyphenols and fibres.
