To kick off celebrating 600 years of Yame tea history, we're proud to introduce one of the first tea merchants to be established in this area: Koga Seicha. After several meetings, a visit in Yame and tasting session, we were honored being able to start a collaboration together.
Their Gyokuro is available to us for the first time starting this week. It's fitting that this storied producer is joining us as we begin celebrating the legacy of Yame tea. In honor of this, we're giving away 100 bags of Koga Seicha Premium sencha. All orders above 50 USD (excluding shipping) will get a 50g bag. This offer is only available as long as supplies last.
Founded in 1819 by Heiroku Koga (古賀平六), Koga Seicha boasts 200 years of experience in perfecting Yame tea.
Always at the forefront of tea culture and technology, Koga seicha was one of the first tea producers in Yame to adopt the Uji-style aoisei process to create the green tea we enjoy today, all the way back in 1831. The steaming and hand-rolling techniques that were studied by Heiroku changed the nature of tea in Yame.
Since then, the Koga family has been producing sublime green tea at the intersection of technical advancements and traditional, generations-long practices.
